A studio of Stoke. A practice of listening and seeing.
Darieus Legg grew up on a sailboat on the ocean and in Kona, Hawaii. Under the tutelage of the legendary Shane Dorian, Darieus excelled in professional surfing, and competed on the World Qualifying Series for three years. He transitioned from surfing full-time to a life in film at 21.
Darieus believes to serve is to live. He thinks we were all put here on Earth to be useful for one another. To help. Documenting someone's story, and using the film and art as a mirror to hold up in front of them so they can see something about themselves they never did before; is his way of helping.
As a Showrunner and Sr. Video Producer for major networks such as Fox, Disney, and NGO’s, Darieus has created multiple golden Telly winning professional development programs for Cornerstone on Demand. Along with an AAF Gold award for the advertising agency Eleven 17 Media. In 2023, he was the 43rd Hawaii International Film Festivals - featured artist, and delivered the TEDx talk, “What Makes You Stoked?” in Vancouver, B.C.
His surf documentary, Stoker Machine (2023), received 8 awards internationally, which included, Best Director, Audience Choice, Best Cinematography, Best Animation, and Best Sports Documentary.
Darieus has been meditating since he was 15 years old. He spends his time between California and Hawaii and loves to travel, eat delicious food, read books, and surf. Darieus is currently working on his second documentary with Red Bull and writing a memoir, What Makes You Stoked?
